Jifang
Pavilion (Pavilion of Gathering Fragrance)
Jifang
Pavilion, one of the pavilions of five directions, was built symmetrically to
Guanmiao Pavilion, the Wonder Appreciation Pavilion on the east of the hill and
they are all alike in architectural structure and colored paintings. Put up in
1751 the Jifang Pavilion is a pavilion located on a site of an ancient building
of the previous dynasty. Covered up with glazed tiles of jadeite color and
yellow rims, it is an octagonal ancient pavilion of double-eaves with a cusped
top. Standing 14.2 meters high, it covers a floor space of 110 square meters.
Enshrined formerly in the pavilion was an Amitabha Buddha, one of the Buddhas of
Five Directions cast of copper. However, it was robbed away by the Eight-power
Allied Forces in 1900.
